Position Summary

We are seeking a Mid/Senior Full Stack Python Developer to join an innovative fintech project focused on payment processing and financial transactions across Latin America.

The ideal candidate has strong experience building backend services with Python and FastAPI, integrating payment gateways, and working across both backend and frontend layers. This role requires hands-on experience with MercadoPago and Latin American payment ecosystems, making it an excellent opportunity for developers with fintech or payment-processing backgrounds.

While we are primarily targeting Senior-level professionals, exceptional Mid-Level candidates who meet all technical requirements will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain backend services using Python and FastAPI.
• Design, build, and integrate RESTful APIs with internal and third-party systems.
• Integrate and maintain MercadoPago and other payment gateway APIs.
• Work with CockroachDB for data management, queries, and performance optimization.
• Implement asynchronous workflows and messaging systems using RabbitMQ.
• Contribute to an existing production codebase and quickly take ownership of development tasks.
• Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver features on schedule.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, integration, and payment-processing issues.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
• Participate in technical discussions and contribute to system improvements.
• Support both backend and frontend development efforts as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

• Advanced English proficiency (B2+ written and spoken).
• 5+ years of software development experience (exceptional candidates with 3–4 years may be considered).
• Strong experience with Python development.
• Hands-on experience building backend applications with FastAPI.
• Strong experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Experience working with CockroachDB or similar distributed SQL databases.
• Experience with RabbitMQ or other message broker technologies.
• Experience integrating MercadoPago APIs.
• Experience working with Latin American payment gateways and payment ecosystems.
• Full Stack development experience with the ability to contribute to both frontend and backend applications.
• Ability to quickly understand existing codebases and contribute independently.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

• Experience with additional LATAM payment platforms such as:

  • Conekta
  • Culqi
• Previous fintech, payments, banking, or financial services experience.
• Experience with microservices architectures.
• Experience with event-driven systems.
• Experience working in remote or distributed teams.
• Familiarity with cloud-based environments and modern deployment practices.
