About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Magento Developer to join a growing development team focused on delivering scalable and high-performance e-commerce solutions.

This role requires deep expertise in Adobe Commerce / Magento 2 development, including both front-end and back-end architecture, as well as experience implementing advanced e-commerce capabilities such as payment integrations, performance optimization, and scalable checkout solutions.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading Magento implementations, optimizing platform performance, and mentoring developers, while collaborating with product managers, designers, and QA teams to deliver high-quality e-commerce platforms.

Responsibilities:

Lead development, customization, and implementation of Magento themes, modules, and extensions.
Design and implement custom Magento features using Magento APIs and PHP best practices.
Execute Hyvä theme migrations and maintenance, ensuring compatibility, performance, and responsive design standards.
Implement and maintain Hyvä Checkout, optimizing checkout performance and user experience through secure integrations with payment and shipping services.
Customize Magento front-end components using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Less.js, Grunt, and RequireJS.
Develop and optimize backend functionality including database queries, caching strategies, indexing, and data migrations.
Integrate Magento with third-party services, including payment gateways such as PayPal, Stripe, and Bluesnap.
Optimize site performance through caching technologies such as Varnish and Redis, as well as database indexing and front-end optimizations.
Implement security best practices and PCI compliance standards for e-commerce platforms.
Collaborate with product owners, designers, and QA teams to deliver scalable and reliable e-commerce solutions.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
Manage version control using Git and maintain Magento environments using Composer and DevOps deployment workflows.
Provide ongoing maintenance, updates, and technical support for Magento platforms.

Technical Requirements:

5+ years of professional experience developing with Adobe Commerce / Magento 2.
Strong experience developing Magento modules, themes, and integrations.
Strong backend development experience using PHP, MySQL, or MariaDB.
Experience working with Magento REST APIs and platform integrations.
Experience optimizing Magento performance using Redis, Varnish, and caching mechanisms.
Experience working with ElasticSearch or OpenSearch.
Experience with RabbitMQ or message queue systems.
Experience working with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript-based Magento front-end frameworks.
Experience with Git version control and Magento CLI.
Experience working with DevOps workflows and automated deployments using Composer.
Strong understanding of Magento architecture including MVC, dependency injection, and EAV data models.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate in distributed engineering teams.
